Classroom Connect Front Door: National Classroom Magazine for the Internet On-Line

Classroom Connect's home on the Internet is a resource to aid in the location of some of the most interesting and useful information that is available to K12 educators online. The site is a cooperative effort between the staff of Classroom Connect (CRC) and educators around the globe. It provides access to projects like ClassroomWeb, an archive of Schools on the Web, ConferenceWeb, a constantly updated list of educational conferences, the Teacher Contact Database, and the brand-new interactive Virtual Auditorium.

The site is now embarked on an ambitious multimedia publishing program for the K-12 market that includes newsletters, books, videos, computer software, and seminars.

LC MARVEL, the LIbrary's Gopher-based Campus Wide Information System, is available to the general public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

[The Library of Congress (LC) Machine-Assisted Realization of the Virtual Electronic Library (MARVEL) is a Campus-Wide Information System that combines the vast collection of information available about the Library with easy access to diverse electronic resources over the Internet. It is available on the Internet and uses the Gopher software from the University of Minnesota.]

LOCIS (Library of Congress Online System)

LOCIS is the Library's mainframe-based collection of databases including a public access catalog of bibliographic information, federal legislation, copyright registered works, braille and audio materials, guides (e.g., Science Tracers Bullets) and organization descriptions, and foreign law abstracts. LOCIS databases are available for limited hours.

LOCIS Hours: U.S. Eastern Time -- Monday-Friday, 24 hours a day; Saturday, until 5:00 pm; and Sunday, 12:00 pm -

Library of Congress Z39.50 Gateway

The Library of Congress offers a Web-based Z39.50 client interface to a portion of its online catalog: the Books and Name Authority files. In addition, there are Z39.50 interfaces to over 90 online catalogs and databases, outside the Library of Congress. Hours of availability, where known, are indicated on each individual search screen.

PALS Across Georgia Home Page: Search Database of State of Georgia Universities

PALS (Project for Automated Library Systems) is the name of the library system created by its originator, Mankato State University, Mankato, Minnesota. It provides library services to a host of libraries around the world.

With respect to PALS in Georgia, 47 libraries have a copy of their holdings loaded into the PALS Across Georgia Union Catalog Project. In addition, 12 libraries are actively using PALS as their automation solution with 1 additional library committed to using PALS as resources become available. The PALS Library System runs on a Unisys computer located in Atlanta and serves participating libraries via PeachNet (the statewide network for the University System of Georgia). Through the PALS Across Georgia Resource Sharing Project, automation opportunities are offered to post-secondary academic libraries in the state of Georgia. The PALS Library System software is owned and marketed by Ameritech Library Services.
