Anansi Policy and Procedures

I. General Anansi Policy

Anansi's general policy is to keep bureaucratic rules to a minimum by the application of good common sense. Anansi's general goal is to provide innovative and practical technoques to support an enriched learning process using World Wide Web and other technological resources. Anansi's general rule is to conduct all activities in agreement with the qualities of mutual respect, integrity, honesty, and good taste. Anansi cordially invites contributions, comments and constructive criticism from all WebSite users.

II. Submission of Materials for Anansi Review

Materials contributed for Anansi review may be from any source but must be properly identified. Identification must include the name of the author, photographer or artist involved, together with their address or associated school name. Only materials transmitted with the creator's explicit approval for electronic publication and redistribution by Anansi are acceptable and materials submitted by homepage administrators will be considered to have received such approval. Anansi administrators cannot review or respond to materials which are improperly identified, and such materials will not be retained.
All submissions are highly preferred in an electronic format. Text files may be in ANSI or ASCII text or one of the Universal File Formats such as Envoy, Rich Text Format (RTF), Replica, or Adobe Acrobat; or from any of the well known word processors such as WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, AmiPro, etc. Pictures may be from any of the well known formats such as BMP, WPG, JPG, TIFF, GIF, PCX, IMG, MSP, PNT, MAC, TGA, etc. Anansi cannot be responsible for holding or treating any electronic format submissions as originals or master copies. Submitters should only transmit copies of the originals for Anansi's use.
Acceptable hardcopy materials include legible artwork or text on 8.5 X 14 inch or smaller paper, as well as glossy prints of normally exposed photos. Matte finish photo prints and 35 millimeter slides of significant interest can also be accommodated.
Anansi can not guaranty the return of any materials submitted for our review. However, Anansi administrators will make all prudent efforts to properly collate and store all materials received until selection for or against their inclusion is made. Materials selected for inclusion will be converted to an electronic format, if necessary. All hardcopy materials will then be discarded or returned to the associated submitter, if required. Submitters who require return of their hardcopy submissions must include a "return is required" statement, together with an adequately sized Self Addressed Envelope with sufficient postage attached.
All materials selected for inclusion within Anansi will be in electronic format, included within current WebSite pages and archived. The copyright on all materials submitted to Anansi will be considered to be held by the creator. The submittal of these materials for Anansi review will constitute the appropriate permission for their use by Anansi.

III. Acceptable Usage Policy

Anansi administrators have been informed of the formulation of an Acceptable Usage Policy (AUP) to control Internet usage by students. Anansi administrators support this effort.
Put simply, an AUP is a written agreement, signed by students, their parents, and teachers, outlining the terms and conditions of the school's Internet usage. It includes specifics on acceptable uses, rules of on-line behavior, and access privileges. Also covered are penalties for violations of the policy, including security violations and vandalism of the system. Signing an AUP is an anticipated requirement for any user of a school's Internet connection. Signatories are required to be informed that the AUP will be kept on file as a legal, binding document.

Anansi administrators feel that all users should be well informed in this area and highly recommend that you download and review the Classroom-Connect K-12 AUP FAQ at your earliest opportunity.

The FAQ may be obtained by anonymous FTP download at ftp://ftp.classroom.net/Classroom-Connect/aup-faq.txt
